April 5 – April 7, 2012, Joint PAVO/USAV Advanced Training Camp
National Collegiate Club Championships (NCVF), Kansas City, MO

The joint PAVO/USAV Advanced Training Camp will be held in Kansas City this year. All campers must have a minimum PAVO State rating or USAV Regional rating. Registration is accepted on a first-paid, first accepted basis. Campers are responsible for their own travel costs, meals and lodging expenses during the camp. The Head Trainer will be Julie Voeck.

Campers will attend an evening classroom session (7-10 pm) on Wednesday, April 4. Campers will participate in on-court training sessions the next two days of camp and may be scheduled to officiate additional matches during the camp period, depending on the needs of the event. Camp duties may include line judging, scorekeeping, officiating and ball shagging. Campers will be paid for duties performed outside of the camp at established event rates, if used. The registration fee for this camp is $275.

The following information is necessary for registering for this camp:

1. Available or not to officiate on the last day of the tournament if needed

2. Current USAV and PAVO rating

If you are interested in registering for this camp, contact Miki Kennedy at the PAVO Central Office (PAVO@pavo.org or call 888/791-2074) for consideration.

USAV Premier Referee Camp at GJNC

July 1 – July 4, 2012, Premier Referee Camp for USAV
Girls Junior National Championships, Columbus, Ohio

A Premier Referee Camp for USAV will be held at the GJNC in Columbus, Ohio, prior to the beginning of the Junior National Referee Candidates rating session. The camp will be held starting the evening of July 1, 2012, and will continue through July 4, 2012, until around 2:00 p.m. The registration fee for this USAV Premier Training Camp is $250. All campers must have a minimum USAV Regional rating and we anticipate that most campers will be Junior National candidates. Registration is accepted on a first-paid, first-accepted basis only. Campers are responsible for their own travel costs, meals and lodging expenses during the camp. If you have talked to those who took this camp in the past, you know this is the one to register for. Also, a USAV National Referee Clinic is required and one will be held on the evening of July 1, 2012, if a camper needs it.

Campers will attend a classroom session Sunday evening and then be observed and evaluated in the first and second referee positions on the following days. Campers will also have the opportunity to officiate with training staff members, work with score sheets, and round out the training with activities to help prepare them for their next advancement. After each set of matches, the campers will be debriefed and have the opportunity to discuss the matches and ask questions of the National Trainers. Members of the training staff will be available throughout most of the GJNC to answer questions. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn the latest techniques and rules from some of the top trainers and officials in the country. Space in the camp is limited, so register for the camp now! If you have questions, please contact Thomas Hoy at thoy@satx.rr.com.
