USA Volleyball has provided the following resources for you to learn more.
Becoming An Official
- Register through SportsEngine (See Membership Registration)
- Once you register, you will have access to training modules that cover every aspect of officiating. These modules are viewed through the USAV Academy on SportsEngine. (Instructions under SportsEngine tab)
- Attend the Utah volleyball Officials Academy in January or a “New officials” training session (See more info under Training)
- Complete all of the requirements for the Intermountain region
- Sign up to work tournaments, either through the region or the National qualifiers.
Requirements for the Intermountain Region

- Attend or watch the pre-season meeting by January 31

- Complete safe sport training through SportsEngine by January 1, or before you officiate

- Complete background screening through SportsEngine

IVA Officials Division Requirements and Guidelines PDF
1. Register for USA Volleyball and Intermountain Region
2. Attend the mandatory Pre-season clinic, or watch online
3. Complete the online modules through the USAV Academy on Sports Engine, and take the test as part of the modules by January 1st.
4. Be available and sign up to work at least one regional tournament per year
5. Attend the Utah Volleyball Academy once every three years
6. Be rated either through the academy, or during one of the region’s planned rating days, once every three years.
7. Junior National or National officials, must complete all National requirements and follow the USAV guidelines for JN/National officials.
